Do your days fly by and do you feel like you can never get a job done? Would you like to follow your children more after school, but never manage to free yourself from work commitments? Are you feeling stressed? Do you tend to put off until you feel overwhelmed with things to do?

To avoid this it is important to plan your day and your time well. Here are the tips from the American website webmd to avoid wasting your precious time!

1. Focus on your goals

Give yourself clear goals. For example: would you like to be able to dedicate more time to your children to accompany them in various extracurricular activities?

Take a few hours off work so that you can study your schedule well after school. So you can organize yourself better.

For example, you may find that a classmate goes to the same pool: maybe the mother could also bring your child and you can pick them up after swimming time ...

2. Record the time

Before starting with the organization of the week, write down on a piece of paper how long it takes you to do the housework: go to the laundry, prepare breakfast, make the beds ...

Many people overestimate how long it takes to do simple things like a shower; or they underestimate more complicated tasks, such as writing a report. If you learn how long it takes you to do things, it will be easier to manage them later.

3. Prioritize yourself

Divide the to-dos into 4 groups: urgent and important things; not urgent but important; urgent but not important; neither urgent nor important.

The goal you need to set yourself is to have a few things on the "urgent and important" list. These are the ones to do right away. They absolutely must not accumulate otherwise they will cause you a lot of stress.

With that done, most of your time should be devoted to solving the "not urgent, but important" things. These are the most useful to complete, even these should not be accumulated at all, otherwise you risk feeling overwhelmed.

4. Plan your day

Once you know how long it takes you to do a certain job and prioritize it by importance, you can start planning your day.

Be flexible and ask yourself questions like, "Do I work best in the late afternoon or early morning?"; "Do I prefer to have the evening free?"; "Better to break up a big job or do it all at once?".

Think about what works best for you and don't be afraid to change.

5. Do the hardest things first

Mark Twain used to say: "Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse can happen to you during the rest of the day". In other words, if you have a tough job to do, do it now so you don't have to worry about the rest of the day.

6. Write a to-do list

Making a to-do list can help. But you can also use other tools such as your mobile phone, your computer calendar ... The important thing is to write things down in a place that is convenient to consult.

7. Are you using your time well?

Always remember what goals you want to achieve and ask yourself if you are doing what it takes to achieve them. For example, were those extra hours at work that no one asked you to do really that important or would it have been better to spend them in the gym or taking your child to the piano class?

8. Don't cheat on timetables

If you schedule a job at 9.00, don't start it at 9.15. So it won't work, even if you work alone. Wasting time at the beginning will cause you to waste more time later. If you want some flexibility, set some options, for example: in the morning you can dedicate yourself to answering emails or archiving documents, but stay on time. Give it a try, but if that time just isn't right for you, then change it.

9. The important thing is to start

If you feel a strong urge to postpone, chase it away and get started! "Whoever gets off to a good start is half the battle" says a saying. Just take a small step and you will already feel better, and this will help you get into the right rhythm to finish the job. Often our mental attitudes depend more on behaviors and results than on external factors.

10 All your time is important

Do you have 15 minutes to spare before you leave? You may be surprised at all that can be done in that time. Four 15 minutes makes an hour! So do something on your list instead of browsing social media. You will relax afterwards.

11. Get help from technology

Technology, the web, e-mails ... can be distracting, but they can also help. There are apps that plan the day, remember commitments, deadlines and appointments.

12 Set time limits

Give yourself a maximum amount of time to devote to an activity. You can use a timer. This will help you not to devote yourself to a job more than necessary. Once you have reached the time limit, stop.

13. Email: the black hole of lost time

Emails can be the cause of a large amount of wasted time and a source of stress. Try these 4 rules:

Canceled: if they are not about you or your work, delete them.

Respond: if it is something urgent or to be done immediately, answer.

Delegate: If the email asks you to do something someone else could do better, flip it.

Reapply: if it takes more time than you have available at that moment, postpone it until later.

14. Don't skip your lunch break

Sometimes working on your lunch break seems like a good time-saving solution, but it can backfire. As a general rule, taking a break of at least half an hour helps you work better in the afternoon.

If you are not hungry, go for a walk or at least some stretching. You will return to the office with more energy.

15 Plan pleasant moments too

The main objective of organizing your day in the best possible way must be to have free time to do what you want.

Spray your week with fun, healthy, relaxing things. It will help you be positive and motivated to move forward. So, yes to: breaks, snacks, aperitifs, cinema, gym, and even holidays.
