Why does not the period come
Unless a low-dose oral contraceptive is voluntarily used, which can cancel the menstrual cycle without affecting the woman's health, such a situation can occur for several reasons. «The pill, in fact, works in 99% of cases. It therefore means that there is a one in 100 chance that it won't work, "explains the doctor.
Here are the causes possible:
- The onset of pregnancy
- An oversight
- Too low dosage of the pill
1. The beginning of a pregnancy
As we said in 1% of cases you can get pregnant even if you take the pill. This can happen especially in the presence of:
- taking other medications, for example antibiotics, which inhibited the correct absorption of the contraceptive in the gastrointestinal tract;
-
episodes of vomiting or diarrhea within 5 hours of taking the pill. If the woman has suffered from gastroenteritis within the month, or has had episodes of vomiting or diarrhea within a short time of taking the drug, her intake is impaired.
2. An oversight
"Another cause of pregnancy despite taking the pill is that the woman is convinced that she has taken all the tablets, but instead has missed one or more than one."
3. Too low dosage of the pill
«In some cases, menstruation does not occur because the dosage of the drug is too low and the woman is young. It is a situation that occurs especially in the case of polycystic ovaries. This is not to say that the pill is ineffective as a contraceptive. Simply, being too light, it is unable to make the endometrium grow and cause menstruation, which is nothing more than the exfoliation of the endometrial tissue and its consequent expulsion ».

In all situations, the advice when you run out of a pack and your period doesn't come is to take a pregnancy test. "Even if the result will be 99% negative, this excludes the possibility of pregnancy and avoids taking a new package of the drug which, in the event of gestation, could cause problems for the woman and the embryo".
