In the first months of life, snoring or even just noisy breathing are in almost all cases the most direct consequence of the narrowness of the nasal cavities, possibly associated with the presence of minimal secretions.
The newborn has an obligatory nasal breathing (which allows him to suck milk without difficulty) so if the air enters the nose in a difficult way it causes the characteristic noise. The two manifestations are, in fact, frequent when the child is cold. Since it is always advisable to seek the advice of the pediatrician, it is undoubtedly advisable when the child is breathing noisily during sleep, to proceed with the thorough cleaning of the nose.
It involves instilling small quantities of physiological solution into the nostrils and, possibly, also aspirating the mucus with the appropriate suction device.
# It is not true that snoring is always an expression of a deviated nasal septum. Especially in the first months of life it usually depends on the mucus in the nose. Only if it becomes a habitual (and not occasional) phenomenon should you speak to the pediatrician.
