Carbonara for children

Carbonara with ham, courgettes, vegetables. Suitable for children aged one year and over. Here are three different recipes to prepare, on the occasion of the Carbonara Day of 6 April, a carbonara suitable for small children, from one to two years old.

Can children eat carbonara?

The answer is no. It would be better to avoid. Small children should not eat raw egg and bacon is a very fatty cured meat. Cooked ham as an alternative would be preferred. Even pecorino is usually not always popular with children, due to its very strong flavor.

Here are some variations of carbonara that we can also offer to children.

Carbonara for children with ham

Do not be horrified by lovers of pasta alla carbonara: this is a reinterpretation of carbonated designed in a child's key. Specially designed for one / two year olds.

The child's first carbonara pasta

So, no raw egg, no pepper, the bacon is replaced with cooked ham and optionally, pecorino (if the child likes it, but usually the taste is too strong) or parmesan.

Depending on the preferences of the child, you can choose to blend or put the ham into pieces.

We can decide not to put all the salt, since the Parmesan already gives the right flavor to the dish.

Ingredients

Doses for 1 serving

  • 1/2 cup of broken noodles,
  • 1 tablespoon of egg yolk,
  • 1 tablespoon of liquid cream (to be replaced if you have preferences with extra virgin olive oil),
  • 1 slice of pureed cooked ham,
  • 1 teaspoon of grated Parmesan cheese,
  • sale

How to prepare it

Boil the spaghetti in salted water. In a bowl, beat the egg yolk with the cream, the chopped ham and the Parmesan.

Drain the spaghetti and pour hot into the bowl so that the egg can cook in time, mixing well before serving. If the egg has not cooked, put it back on the heat briefly for safety.
