Now the baby just has to grow up and train intensely for life outside the womb.
The ears are also able to perceive sounds. At first, however, the fetus hears only the sounds produced by the mother: her heartbeat, noises related to digestion and the mother's voice.

21-24 weeks
With any luck with the ultrasound around the 20th week you can see the baby sucking his thumb. Or maybe you will happen to see him play with the umbilical cord. Now he is interested in his own body, he runs his little hands over his face and touches his legs and arms; his movements become faster.
He is able to feel pain, every now and then the amniotic fluid goes sideways and he gets hiccups - which Mom will feel like a gentle nudge against his belly.
