Uterine squeezing: what it is and when it is done
Childbirth is a physiological moment and usually takes place without major hitches. It may happen that labor lasts longer, but there are still fewer cases in which an emergency cesarean is used, the use of instruments, or those in which something really goes wrong. Post-partum hemorrhages are not very frequent either, but they can happen: the uterine squeezing helps to counter them.

A time of postpartum hemorrhage you could die with simplicity. Today, fortunately, it is not only possible to prevent them during pregnancy (for example thanks to the fact that the number and position of the fetus are known, we have information on the placenta, on the amniotic fluid), but we have tools to effectively combat them.
Some women are more at risk of others, perhaps due to previous births or a coagulation defect, but all this is known to doctors who prepare - even in the absence of risk factors - to resolve any bleeding promptly.Read also: Presence of placenta after childbirth: I risked a lot, but at least I'm alive
What is uterine expressing
It is thanks to a series of medical practices if the postpartum hemorrhage can be stopped in time, without the woman having consequences as it once did (hysterectomy, even death). One of these is precisely the uterine squeezing, which serves to interrupt the bleeding excessive uterus after expulsion of the fetus and placenta.
Basically, the obstetrician or gynecologist puts a hand over the abdomen of the pregnant woman and pushes to keep the tone of the uterus.
Uterine squeezing: what is it for
With this maneuver, the uterus can more easily expel clots and remnants of placenta. It becomes necessary when the uterus presents a volume much larger than that considered normal, and can be practiced both during the immediate post-partum, therefore during the afterbirth, and in the hours immediately following.
Does uterine pressing hurt?
After the labors of labor and the pains of contractions e pushed, the idea that someone can push on the uterus to "work" can be frightening: in fact the uterine squeezing it is a maneuver unpleasant which could turn out to be a lot annoying for new mothers, and for this first you try techniques you can read. However, if the squeezing is necessary because the bleeding does not stop, the person who does it will start gradually, to then increase the intensity. It is a massage which aims to obtain a normal uterine tone, which in medical jargon is called safety globe.
Uterine squeezing: consequences
The last question to ask is: can uterine expressing have consequences o complications? In reality, if it is carried out by expert hands there is no danger. The only one risk, if someone who is not able to practice the maneuver is to uterine inversion. But it really is a very remote probability because the medical staff are prepared for every eventuality.
La uterine squeezing it is a massage that is performed externally, at the height of the uterus on the woman's abdomen, immediately after giving birth, during the afterbirth or shortly after. It is necessary when there is apostpartum hemorrhage abnormal, and serves to regain tone in the uterus so that it can contract and stop blood loss.
